What would be a generic "taste of the west"? I have the rest (south, midwest, east) for "taste of america"?
For an international festival of people from all over the world, I am in charge of putting together a "taste of America" booth.
I opted away from hot dogs and McD's, and instead thought I'd go with a well known meals from accross the us.
I have Buffalo Wings from the Northeast, Philly Cheese Steaks from the East, Skyline Chili from the midwest, and Barbeque from the south... however, I can't come up with anything that represents the "west" besides starbucks. I know this isn't a science or flawless, but it'll be agood experience. Any ideas?
When I think west, I would think California; so any dishes with fresh vegetables and fruits of California would be good. Something like a fusion of Mexican, or Asian dishes. If you can make sushi, the Californian roll would be good (at least the no raw fish version).
Northwest would have salmon, so anything you can think of with salmon would be great. Just google Californian dishes or northwest dishes for more suggestions.
