I have a one year old miniature Dachshund, is there any tests a vet can do to detect back problems early?
I don't have any reason to beleive my puppy has any problems, but I wanted to know what to look for before she could hurt her spine. I bought her a little set of stairs to let her on the bed and couch without jumping, and try to discourage her from jumping on me when she's excited. Anyone had any experience with this sort of thing?
no. no tests. i have a 1 yr old male.
keep her weight down, and you'll lessen the risk. as for the jumping, mine now ignores the stairs. you seem to be taking care of her, though. the weight is the main problem. mine is about 9.5 lbs, and is at at perfect weight. her belly shouldn't be big, and should be small.
